Honing machines for hydraulic cylinders and valves – hydraulics industry

In the hydraulics industry bore finishing decides sealing and service life: hydraulic cylinders, spool valve bodies, proportional valves, cartridges and oil metering valves work with clearances of a few microns between bore and spool. Honing Technology designs and builds honing machines for hydraulic cylinders and valves: vertical expansion, single-stroke and combined machines, standard or built around the customer's part.

What is honed in hydraulics

Hydraulic cylinder tubes need a plateau finish that retains the oil film and reduces seal and piston wear. Spool valve bodies and valve bores are blind or through, often with several coaxial diameters, where roundness and cylindricity within a micron prevent leakage and sticking. Oil metering and lubrication valves have small, long bores that must be finished without taper. In every case vertical honing, also called bore lapping, brings the bore to size and roughness after drilling or reaming.

Machines for the hydraulics industry

All machines can be fitted with air gauges, robot or pick-and-place loading and our own honing tools. Below are twelve installations at manufacturers of hydraulic cylinders, spool valves and metering valves. See also the bore honing process or contact us with drawing and tolerances.
